Growing the Canadian cEDH Scene

cEDH Canada is the premier platform for competitive Elder Dragon Highlander tournaments across the country. We connect players, organizers, and communities to build the strongest competitive scene in Canada.

What is cEDH?

Competitive Elder Dragon Highlander (cEDH) is the highest-power level of Magic: The Gathering's Commander format. Players build 100-card singleton decks led by legendary creatures, aiming to win in a 4-player free-for-all.

Unlike casual Commander, cEDH focuses on optimized strategies, efficient interaction, and competitive play. Games are faster, decisions carry more weight, and every card slot matters.

“cEDH takes everything great about Commander — the social interaction, the creative deck building, the multiplayer politics — and adds the thrill of high-stakes competitive play.”

Scoring Systems

Tournaments can use different scoring systems, each changing how points work and what strategies matter. Here's what to expect from each one.

ELO System

Each player bets a portion of their rating based on seat position. Going first means a bigger bet since that seat wins more often. Winner takes the whole pot. Standings stay hidden until the end.

Japan System

Everyone bets the same percentage each round. Winner takes the pot — but if the game draws, the entire pot is destroyed and everyone loses their bet. Real pressure to go for the win.

League System

A chess-style rating that rises when you win and falls when you lose. Beating higher-rated players earns you more points, and upsets are heavily rewarded. Best for long-running leagues.

5-1-0 System

Like Standard but with bigger win rewards — 5 points for a win, 1 for a draw. Uses opponent match-win percentage as a tiebreaker, so the strength of who you faced matters when records are tied.
